Job Description: Civic Engagement Organizer
AAPIs for Civic Empowerment Education Fund
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for Civic Empowerment Education Fund (AAPI FORCE-EF) is a statewide network that builds progressive AAPI power through campaign organizing, policy advocacy and research, integrated voter engagement, and narrative strategy. We provide capacity building support, coaching, and strategic planning to organizers and organizations with the intention of building a powerful AAPI voter mobilization infrastructure.
POSITION OVERVIEW AAPI FORCE-EF seeks a Civic Engagement Organizer to recruit and build up our volunteer and activist base through our rapid response work, policy campaigns, and voter outreach. The Civic Engagement Organizer will also play a supporting role in the rest of the field team responsibilities, including providing training and coaching partner organizations on their field plans, coordination between organizations and coalitions, and providing technical support. Ideal candidates would have a deep understanding of organizing (recruitment, outreach, follow-up, 1:1s) and can create meaningful ways for everyday people to be engaged in our work. Applicants should have an intimate knowledge and familiarity with working in AAPI communities, have a grounding in intersectionality and solidarity organizing, and can capably work across differences. This position will report to the Capacity Building Director and coordinate closely with the field team.
POSITION SUMMARY
Outreach and Volunteer Organizing (60%)
Implement & lead creative strategies to build a robust volunteer base for AAPI FORCE-EF in a statewide landscape with online/in-person engagement
Conduct regular outreach, volunteer engagement, volunteer meetings and events, follow-up, and turnout calls
Expand core volunteers in AAPI FORCE’s Supervolunteer space
Support the development of campaign strategies and materials relevant to our organizing needs
Train and supervise volunteer for voter outreach campaigns and C4 activities
Field Operations, Training (30%)
Support campaign set up on various platforms (PDI, Callhub, peer texting) and provide monitoring and problem solving
Build relationships with our statewide network partners through 1:1 meetings and field committee space
Assist with field campaign trainings and coaching
Administrative and Organizational Support (10%)
Administrative tasks (data tracking, reporting, timesheets, Action Network tracking)
Support and participate in collective organizational planning and retreats
Represent AAPI FORCE-EF in coalition spaces and external meetings
Collaborate with other teams at AAPI FORCE-EF (Comms, Policy, Research)
QUALIFICATIONS
Commitment to racial, economic, gender and environmental justice, bottom-up social change and building social movements
Experience (2+ years) in grassroots base building, campaign volunteering or voter outreach campaigns
Experience in training and facilitation
Ability to travel within CA and sometimes nationally at least once every 2 months
Ability to build strong relations of trust, mutual respect, and accountability
Excellent attention to detail, follow-through, and project management skills
Understands the basics of base-building and has strong outreach skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position can be based anywhere in CA. If based in the bay area, the hired staff will be expected to commit to a hybrid schedule with 2 days working at our physical office in Oakland and 3 days at home.
Sitting at a computer or desk for extended amount of time with or without reasonable accommodation
Able to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
Able to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in-person and be understood by others
Able to hear and understand speech, including on the phone
Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Able to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds, etc.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS
This position is being offered as a full-time, non-exempt position. While this position may be based anywhere in California, 3-4 meetings per year will be held in Oakland where the main office is located. In addition, travel within California is expected and will take place at least once every 2 months to visit our partners in their regions or for retreats.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Expected annual salary earnings range from $72,000 to $78,000. This position also comes with medical and dental benefits, plus paid vacation, sick time and holidays.
Expected start date to be May 5th, 2025.
