Administrative Generalist – Back Office For Organizing in Michigan (“BOOM”)

BOOM LLC provides the backend finance, administrative and HR service functions for our network of nonprofit organizations and sponsored projects. Founded by leaders from 482Forward, the Michigan Education Justice Coalition and the Urban Core Collective, BOOM serves as a backoffice hub to meet the growing needs of base building organizations, allowing them to focus on programmatic and organizing priorities.

Position Overview:

In partnership with the Managing and Operations Directors, the Admin Generalist will provide support to BOOM staff and partners to support essential administrative and operational support. The Administrative Generalist will contribute to the smooth functioning of our organization by handling a variety of tasks, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. This role demands a highly organized, flexible, and detail-oriented individual who is committed to our values of social, economic, and racial justice.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide day-to-day administrative support, including navigating partner inquiries and scheduling meetings
  2. Draft and edit correspondence, emails, and other communications
  3. Assist with financial tasks such as processing invoices and tracking expenses
  4. Accurately enter and maintain data in various databases and systems
  5. Support HR document processing and maintaining accurate employee and contractor records
  6. Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, catering, and communications
  7. Prepare and distribute reports and presentations as needed
  8. Maintain accurate and organized digital filing systems, both physical and digital
  9. Assist in the development and maintenance of knowledge management resources
  10. Troubleshoot basic computer and software issues
  11. Assist with other administrative duties and special projects as assigned

Key Qualifications:

The candidate should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground to lead social change, and experience working within a values-driven organization is strongly preferred. Additional requirements are:

  • Committed to social, economic, and racial justice; mission-driven with cultural competency and experience in diverse communities
  • 3+ years of administrative experience, preferably in a non-profit environment
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Excellent time and project management skills; a nimble self-starter with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks
  • Values-driven individual with a good sense of humor
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proactive and adaptable
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and empathy
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and comfort with various software platforms

Employment Terms: This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position. Must be a Michigan resident; preference given to candidates located in Detroit, Lansing, Ypsilanti or Grand Rapids areas. Remote position with limited travel. Reliable internet access is required. Salary range for this position is $50,000 – 60,000/year. Excellent benefits package, including health, dental, vision, prescription, disability, and life insurance. Access to a 401k program and generous PTO.
