Position Summary

In close partnership with our Administration Team, the Building Logistics Coordinator will guide overall building management functions for CTUL, including building maintenance, security, and logistics needs. This is a benefits-eligible part-time position (24 hours per week), with exact working hours to be mutually determined with the candidate and the Human Resources & Organizational Effectiveness Lead.

Organization Summary

Over the past fourteen years, CTUL has forged a new path for worker leadership development in the Twin Cities, opening new spaces where low-wage workers of color have a voice in their workplaces and in their communities. CTUL seeks to strengthen its work building a multi-racial organization.

CTUL has a vision of organizing the most marginalized workers in our economy to directly confront the elite corporations and 1% that control our economy, make demands, and win concrete and structural changes for communities across the metro area. Through worker-led campaigns with CTUL, workers have:

Worked in coalition to win increased wages and benefits for hundreds of thousands of low-wage workers through the $15 minimum wage in Minneapolis, and Earned Sick & Safe Time in Minneapolis and St. Paul;
Transformed the retail janitorial industry, making the Twin Cities the first metro area where the industry is unionized;
Recovered over $2 million in unpaid wages and damages in cases of wage theft; and
Won long-term changes in their workplace that bring over $7 million in additional income per year into the poorest communities in the metro area.
Position Description

(Essential duties & responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following)

Building:

Coordinate and ensure completion of building maintenance and projects in the short term and long term. (HVAC service, Security System, Printers, Pest, Fire Prevention, Trash/recycling)
Oversee and coordinate building repairs and overall upkeep (Small Repairs, Outside Cleaning, Common Space Organizing)
Coordinate special projects as needed related to the building/office space
Coordinate with other building tenants regarding overall building management, facilities, and equipment needs, including managing lease updates and rent payments
Manage new and existing vendor contacts and related documentation needs (contact lists, invoices, W9s, contracts, bids as required, insurance, etc.)
Lead and support the Building Management Committee, including supporting new building policy as needed
Oversee building space calendar and reservations of space and equipment
Lead on building-related organizational policies and procedures, including the Emergency Response Plan and COVID-19 Building Policy

Logistics:

Oversee and support the logistics needs events, including setup and tear down of sound equipment, stage, tents, etc. as needed
Manage building reservations and support partners with space needs
Manage equipment and furniture maintenance and replacement (Interpretation, Sound systems, WiFi, Computers, Lighting, Furniture)
Manage and purchase building and office supplies, inventory, and storage needs
Manage logistics of loaning equipment to ally organizations, including coordinating pick up and drop off, instructions on use of equipment, and documentation
Regularly check the physical mailbox and main CTUL phone line and distribute messages appropriately
Submit insurance claim paperwork related to property damage and other building-related incidents
Additional:

In partnership with the HR & OE Lead and the Finance and Operations Director, develop annual priorities, long-term vision, goals, and budget as applicable for our office and building needs
In coordination with the HR & OE Lead, support some aspects of the onboarding process including building and security policies, equipment set up, and the security system
Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
Knowledge and Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of office/building management experience or similar project management experience
Highly organized and detail oriented – you like (and use!) spreadsheets, calendars, filing systems, and other tools to support you in tracking and managing projects.
The ability to manage to deadlines
Skilled at problem-solving in the moment – you’re creative, resourceful, and able to troubleshoot issues that emerge in real time
Good communication practices and ability to ask for help when you need it
Desired Qualifications:

Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.
Conversational English is required
Access to reliable transportation is required, and a driver’s license and access to own personal transportation is preferred

The schedule for this position is flexible, and the successful candidate will be able to largely set their own schedule. However, the ability to occasionally work some evenings or weekends is required.
Ability to deal with ambiguity, cope with change, and comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.
Salary & Benefits:

This is a part-time, salaried position (24 hours/week) and is eligible for our benefits package. CTUL has a tiered salary range set by the Staff and Board based on the principles of economic justice and inclusion. This salaried position is currently compensated at $27,505.92 per year with an annual raise of 3%, an annual 5% bonus which can be used towards a retirement fund, and paid time off including holidays, sick time, and vacation time.
