This position also supports Community Change Action, an affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy organization. While motivated by the same core values – equity, inclusion, and justice – Community Change and Community Change Action operate independently of one another and each organization has its own board of directors.
Position Description:
The Project Manager for Brand Strategy will anchor the growing team of brand strategists to strengthen the integration of Community Change’s brand across the organization’s internal operations and external communications.
They will provide project management and administrative support that enhances the effectiveness and expands the capacity of a new team charged with advancing Community Change’s external positioning and reputation as an anti-poverty organization and electoral powerhouse of, by, and for communities of color. They will support close coordinates with the co-presidents’ offices and the external affairs functions across the organization, including communications, development, and legislative affairs. They will be responsible for leading discrete projects with minimal oversight and for executing the team’s administrative work, including through support for meeting logistics, scheduling, files management, and maintenance of our digital brand guide.
The ideal project manager is a curious and detail-oriented person who is passionate about the mission of Community Change. They are an experienced project manager who is driven to make systems and teams operate more smoothly and who understands the critical importance of organizational infrastructure in advancing the social justice movement. They enjoy building relationships across teams, and they understand how to adapt to different working styles to advance their goals.
A portion of time will be spent working with Community Change’s sister organization, Community Change Action.
Primary Responsibilities:
Project management
- Create and manage a process for updating content on communitychange.org and communitychangeaction.org
- Support organization-wide strategy to create, inventory, and distribute branded promotional items (swag), including by managing requests for event or team-specific products
- Maintain the digital brand guide, which is housed on Frontify, and ensure the guide contains up-to-date design files and guidance on brand strategy
- Manage the distribution strategy for marketing materials, including all aspects of print mailings such as list management, coordination with an external print house and design consultants, and internal approvals.
- Support the Director of Brand Strategy & Chief Writer to execute their priority projects.
Administrative support
- Support the team’s financial management in coordination with the Accounting team, including by processing contracts and invoices, reconciling monthly credit card statements, and helping to manage the team’s expense budget;
- Coordinate cross-team and external meetings, manage bi-weekly brand team meetings, and staff an internal “brand kitchen cabinet.” This includes scheduling, helping to develop and distribute agendas, taking and distributing notes, and following up on action items to keep projects moving forward.
- Work closely with the executive office to identify and support brand positioning opportunities based on the co-presidents’ schedules
- Develop and maintain systems to track projects through completion and organize the team’s digital files.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years in a project management or administrative support role; nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
- Commitment to Community Change’s mission and vision; familiarity with social justice movements and community organizing preferred.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and patience; curiosity, flexibility, and a willingness to learn and take on new challenges as the brand team develops.
- Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills; excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to build strong working relationships across different identities, levels of hierarchy, and areas of expertise; experience doing so in a remote environment preferred.
- Broad knowledge of office administration procedures and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based technology, including Google Suite.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn basic website updates.
- Strong communication skills across multiple platforms, including email, Slack, phone, and in-person; ability to assess and provide feedback on written and designed work preferred.
- Ability to connect day-to-day tasks with larger strategy, goals, and vision preferred.

This person reports to: Director of Brand Strategy & Chief Writer
Classification: Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in Community Change’s bargaining unit and covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Travel Requirements: During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all work related travel for Community Change staff is voluntary. In the future, we anticipate approximately 5-10% of the year will be spent traveling.
Salary & benefits: Annual salary of $65,000-75,000. Community Change also offers an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of annual paid vacation; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1; 8% employer contribution to retirement account after six months of employment (and 3% employer contribution for the first 6 months); and a choice of generous health insurance plans.
