- Collaborate with the leadership team to identify staffing and contracting needs.
- Oversee compensation algorithm updates and benefits programs, ensuring that the organization is offering competitive packages to attract and retain top talent.
- Manage hiring processes, including developing job descriptions, engaging effective recruitment strategies; interviewing, and onboarding and training.
- Manage contractor relationships, including identifying contractors as needed (creating and maintaining an internal database for future reference), drafting agreements, and collecting necessary documentation and paperwork.
- Conduct a cost/benefit analysis of utilizing an Employer of Record (EoR); provide recommendation and if applicable, oversee transition, set up, and management.
- Develop and implement metrics to measure and track the success of talent acquisition efforts.
- Oversee and support staff in creating annual goals, assess opportunities for improved projects and goals tracking.
- Develop and implement new performance management and engagement processes to ensure that employees are productive, engaged, and meeting the expectations of the organization.
- Support leadership with preparing and conducting quarterly check ins and annual performance reviews.
- Develop and implement strategies to support staff professional development.
- Oversee employee and volunteer appreciation efforts, and “Fun Committee” planning of quarterly socials.
- Oversee external fellows; implement formal intern program.
- Oversee efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the organization, including preparing strategy recommendations based on our recent internal GDIB assessment.
- Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements and ensure that the organization is adhering to all employment laws in the United States and Canada.
- Ensure that the organization’s employee handbook is up-to-date and that all employees are aware of the policies and procedures.
- Issue Anti-Harassment and Non-Discrimination and cybersecurity trainings to staff upon hire and annually thereafter (including updating these trainings as needed to ensure they stay up-to-date). Additionally, serve as a “designated person” to receive any harassment or discrimination complaints.
- Oversee all business filings and compliance requirements, ensuring that the organization is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Oversee nonprofit compliance and charitable solicitation registration, ensuring that the organization is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Oversee updates of corporate documents (Bylaws, policies, etc.) as needed. Lead in the creation of new policies (e.g., PFML) as needed.
- Work closely with the executive director and the leadership team to execute the organization’s strategic plan (including personnel expansion plans); support the executive director in engaging strategic planning consultants and planning retreats/sessions as needed.
- Support leadership with the Animal Charity Evaluators review process (every other year).
Board & Advisory Support:
- Support the Board of Directors in staying on time and on task with various action items and committee responsibilities.
- Support Board recruitment efforts, including identifying candidates, arranging interviews, and leading onboarding. Additionally, support the Board in assessing and potentially implementing an open-application recruitment process.
- Update Board documents (handbook, welcome) with updated links as needed.
- Develop and implement learning opportunities to support continuous board member knowledge updates.
- Develop a new Global Advisory Council and engage Advisors in Faunalytics’ work as appropriate.
- Conduct an annual programmatic cost (ROI) analysis for the organization.
- Renew GL, D&O, WC insurance policies.
- Support Executive Director and Operations & Finance Coordinator with financial tasks and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications & Details
- Belief in and commitment to Faunalytics’ mission (experience in animal protection preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field (graduate degree or Bachelor’s with supplemental certifications preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in human resources and operations (in a nonprofit setting preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing effective HR policies and programs that align with the organization’s goals and values (experience with multinational teams preferred)
- Strong understanding of nonprofit regulations, employment laws and regulations, compensation and benefits practices, and talent recruitment and management strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate HR-related information to non-HR stakeholders
- Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and demonstrated ability to build and maintain inclusive work environments
- Interest in social and behavioral psychology a plus
- Reports to: Executive Director
- Oversees and works closely with: Operations & Finance Coordinator
- Schedule: Full time (40 hours/week)
- Salary: Approximately $70,000 USD (salary will be determined using our compensation algorithm, which factors in cost of living in your area)
- Vacation Package: 15 paid vacation days, 10 paid floating holidays, 10 paid self care/sick days. PTO increases after three years with the organization.

Application Timeline and Process
- February: Accepting applications (the application deadline is March 1, 2024).
- March: Select candidates will be invited to one video interview with 1-2 Faunalytics team members.
- April: Finalists will be invited to a second and final video interview with 2-3 Faunalytics team members. Finalists will also be asked to complete a short work task. Finalists who are not selected for the role will receive a small stipend for time spent on the task and final interview.
- May: The target start date is May 1, 2024.
