LA Voice is expanding our Civic Engagement team, recruiting for the positions of Civic Engagement Director, Lead Civic Engagement Organizer, and Civic Engagement Organizer. Please visit www.lavoice.org/hiring for an overview of all three positions.
LA Voice seeks a Civic Engagement Organizer to help build LA Voice’s short and long-term power through the strategic growth of our voting bloc. They will work closely with the Civic Engagement Director to implement our integrated civic and voter engagement strategy, including nonpartisan voter engagement campaigns, legislative advocacy, and candidate work through our affiliated 501(c4), LA Voice Action.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Train and engage grassroots leaders in civic engagement organizing
Support and engage grassroots leaders to participate in our Legislative Subcommittee and LA Voice Action Endorsement Committee
Track and communicate regularly with staff and leaders about the annual state and local legislative cycle
Represent LA Voice and LA Voice Action in policy-related coalition spaces, updating and engaging the rest of the LA Voice staff in coalition work as needed
Provide administrative support to the Civic Engagement Director, including scheduling and coordinating meetings and events; facilitating meetings; and other administrative support as needed
Track organizing and voter data in our online database
Support and lead phone banks and canvasses
Experience with voter engagement or elections work, whether paid or volunteer
Experience with events management
Facility with Microsoft Suite and Zoom
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong public speaking skills
Strong organizational and time management skills; able to meet deadlines and pivot with short notice
Task and detailed oriented
Able to work flexible hours
Multicultural and faith-based sensitivity and awareness
Other Possible Qualifications:
Fluency in Spanish or other language-related to our work
Familiarity with community organizing
Personal experience with incarceration, undocumented status, or homelessness/housing displacement/severe rent burden
Compensation and Benefits:
A full-time, exempt position.
The job includes some evening and weekend work.
Hybrid position; can do the majority of work from home, but office space is available and employees must be available for in-person meetings and campaign efforts
The salary range is $45,000-$60,000 depending upon experience and demonstrated skill.
Benefits include a comprehensive health plan, generous personal days, and a 5% matching 401(k).
