Job Description
The National Democratic Training Committee is looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer to help us create and maintain a best-in-class training experience for Democrats across the country.

As a full stack developer in our organization you will be responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining our systems to provide Democratic candidates, staff, and local leaders with a seamless experience.

Primary Responsibilities
In this position you will:

  • Work with UX designers and developers to create, update, and maintain NDTC’s website properties
  • Help mentor junior developers, interns, and fellows through pair programming, code reviews, and 1:1 mentorship
  • Work with the Director of Product & Technology to establish long-term strategies
  • Review and approve pull requests from other developers and participate in QA processes

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • Combination of experience with WordPress, PHP, JavaScript/ES6, and MySQL
  • Experience with a JavaScript framework such as React, Angular, or Vue
  • Knowledge and comfort implementing web accessibility standards (WCAG/ARIA)
  • Expert knowledge of HTML and CSS (SASS)
  • Experience in version control, such as Git
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work quickly with attention to detail
  • Experience crafting clean, organized, and well documented code

Nice-to-Haves, but Not Required Experiences and Skills: 

  • Experience working in an online training platform or learning management system (LMS)
  • Political campaign experience as a staffer or volunteer
  • An understanding of UX principles
  • Experience in an Agile work environment
  • Familiarity with Unit Testing frameworks and/or End-to-End testing frameworks

About NDTC as an Employer
This full-time position will join the Product & Technology team and will report to the Director of Product & Technology.

Due to COVID-19, this position is remote through 2021 with a desire for the role to be permanently based in Chicago, IL (in-person when able). NDTC will reopen an office in Chicago, IL when it is safe for us to resume working in an office, traveling, and holding in-person meetings.

Application Process
Salary is commensurate with experience, with a range of $110k – $120k per year. NDTC offers a strong benefits package including health insurance with the employee premium paid-in-full by NDTC, a 10% employer match on contributions to 401(k), short and long-term disability and life insurance, as well as a flexible paid time off policy. Additionally, NDTC’s offices close for a full week each year during Thanksgiving, a 2-week winter break, and first week in January as well as all Federal holidays.
