Overview

New Hampshire Youth Movement (NHYM) is seeking a full-time Co-Director of Organizing to build youth power through issue advocacy and electoral organizing in New Hampshire. This position is an opportunity to build and manage campaigns; engage with New Hampshire and national politicians, constituents, and other organizers; and be a part of winning the issues that define our generation.

The ideal candidate is a youth organizer who is based in, or plans to move to, New Hampshire. We are searching for a candidate who is experienced in managing field operations, developing volunteer teams, has a mind for long term planning and strategy, and is excited to work with and develop NHYM hubs across the state. They will be invested in building deep relationships with the staff, volunteers, and partners. They will have a stake in winning issues like a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and Free College for All and a commitment to justice, equity, and anti-oppression work.

It is a decentralized, intersectional, grassroots organization focused on building and leveraging youth power in and outside of electoral organizing.

Responsibilities

You can expect to work on:

  • Developing a decentralized network of NHYM hubs.
  • Directing issue-based campaigns.
  • Running a peer to peer organizing program.
  • Supporting a volunteer-led electoral program.
  • Holding candidates accountable through creative direct actions.
  • Working with a team to develop and implement a long-term strategy.

Priority Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone with:

  • Two or more years of community organizing experience.
  • Experience planning and managing campaigns and field operations, including canvassing, phonebanking, and non-violent direct actions.
  • Experience planning and leading trainings.
  • Ability to do strategic long-term planning for a decentralized model.
  • Understanding and analysis of the systemic nature of oppression, particularly the intersection of race, gender, class, sexuality; this position requires a commitment to and a passion for social justice.

Desired Skills and Experience

We would prefer someone who:

  • Is familiar with momentum organizing and decentralized networks.
  • Has experience with digital tools like EveryAction, VAN, GetThru, and Empower.
  • Is comfortable managing and being managed by a coworker.
  • Is able to tell powerful personal stories to inspire.
  • Has knowledge of peer-to-peer organizing.

Location

NHYM is a statewide organization. Staff frequently travel to various parts of the state for meetings, actions, and outreach. A number of staff consistently work out of an office space in Dover, NH that we share with a number of other organizations. Staff do a mixture of remote and in-person work.

Compensation and Commitment 

This position is full-time with a $37,000-$41,000 salary range and healthcare benefits. We are looking for a commitment for more than one year.
