Job Description:

Hoosier Action is seeking a highly-organized candidate to ensure that organization and office operations run smoothly and to ensure sound operations, policies, systems and finances. Reporting to the executive director (ED), the Operations and Finance Director (OFD) will define and implement the infrastructure and systems needed to support substantial growth over the next five to 10 years.  They will continue to build and manage effective and streamlined administrative/financial systems, including financial, accounting, legal, information technology (IT), human resources (HR), and physical infrastructure.The ideal candidate will be innovative, efficient, organized,and work well independently and with other people – bold, creative,  and ambitious thinking is welcomed. Overview:

  • Participate in financial and business planning, review financial reports, and advise the Executive Director about financial decisions.

  • Supervise the daily administration of the organization’s offices and the operation of equipment and facilities.

  • Manage the budgeting process and ensure auditing and accounting policies are followed.

  • Monitor internal processes, and identify and employ the most efficient methods of running the organization.

  • Create and maintain systems and structures to assist the Executive Director in daily management and long range planning

  • Establish systems and manage special projects

  • Interact with our diverse membership across the state, prioritizing the organization’s commitment to being an inclusive and welcoming space for all.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7  years of experience.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.

  • Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.

  • Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team

  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector

  • Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development

  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems

  • Technologically savvy, with an ability to point to examples of having worked with IT staff to develop and implement new processes and systems that increased efficiency in a fast-moving environment.

  • Flexible and a self-starter; able to multitask while also being highly detail-oriented.

  • Exceptional candidates will be able to create simplicity out of complexity, roll up their sleeves and innovate systems and answers to structural issues, fast learner and highly organized, strong ability to work well with a variety of people — including staff and members.
