The Pay Your Workers US Campaign is seeking a National Organizer to lead nationwide student organizing in solidarity with garment worker unions. The National Organizer will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead outreach in-person on campuses and in communities, in-person as well as digitally, to students and youth organizations to mobilize activism in solidarity with garment worker unions
  • Lead and coordinate worker tours, including presentations at universities, throughout the United States
  • Facilitate meetings among students and other activists to plan actions in support of garment worker unions
  • Generate campaign content for both online and offline actions, including demonstrations, petitions, and letter deliveries
  • Plan and execute in-person actions at retail locations and on college campuses
  • Coordinate international delegations of students for exchanges with workers and organizers in major garment-producing countries

To be successful in this job:

  • You are extremely organized and responsive
  • You have at least two years of experience as an organizer – either with student groups, unions, grassroots organizations, or within social movements
  • You’re excited about traveling frequently to meet with students and other activists around the country, and ready to be on the road up to half-time
  • You have the ability to mobilize, inspire, and connect with diverse groups of progressive college students and community activists
  • You’re excited about conducting cold outreach to student organizations and faculty members, making new contacts, and building relationships on the phone and in-person
  • You’re comfortable speaking publicly about worker rights issues
  • You have strong campaign writing skills
