Public Policy and Education Fund of New York is a statewide grassroots movement organization that fights for political, social, racial, economic and environmental justice. We work at the grassroots to give people a sense of their own power. We collaborate with organizations and coalitions in communities throughout New York to address critical issues at the local, state and federal levels. We work in close conjunction with Citizen Action of New York and the Alliance for Quality Education.

Public Policy and Education Fund of New York is seeking a Grants Writer to serve in our Albany office, as part of our growing development team. The primary responsibilities of the Grants Writer include grant writing and reporting, data tracking, and identifying new opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

Writing proposals and reports for future and current foundation funders
Tracking the organization’s work for the purpose of completing grant reports
Maintaining the organization’s grants database, including oversight of deadlines and ensuring that those deadlines are met
Managing senior staff involvement with funders, grant-writing and proposal development
Researching and identifying new opportunities for grants to supporting the organization’s work
Maintaining relationships with grant makers on behalf of the organization

Skills and Experience:

3 to 10 years experiences with grant writing, grant report writing and managing relationships with grant makers
Great writing skills—able to produce compelling content in a timely manner; able to write effective narrative, clear action plans and to capture the stories of our work
Consistent ability to manage and meet deadlines
Strong commitment to racial, economic and social justice and enthusiasm about organizing for change
Ability to work well in a team and to both take and give leadership
Ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities effectively
