Overview

The Temporary Political Organizer is based in Boston, Massachusetts and is responsible for aspects of the Union’s political work in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  This position will begin ASAP and is expected to run to December 31st, 2022.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Mobilizing, training, and educating member leaders and activists for electoral activity including candidate screenings, door knocking, and phone-banking;
Support the defense of the newly passed MA driver’s license bill through a decline to sign campaign, by training volunteers and engaging in education of the public;
Facilitate Social Justice Leadership Academy member trainings;
Supporting contract and organizing campaigns, including elected turn-out for rallies, press events and targeted owner activity;
Supporting the Union’s federal legislative campaigns by reaching out to offices in support of our key legislative priorities;
Qualifications include:

2+ years’ experience in labor, political, or community organizing;
Ability to implement effective political and electoral programs;
Knowledge of legislative processes;
Experience working on electoral campaigns and managing field programs;
Excellent communications skills and experience building strong working relationships with stakeholders across the Union;
Fluent written and oral Spanish preferred but not required;
Willingness to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends, and to travel as needed.
Compensation:
The gross weekly pay for this position is $1,135.  Staff are paid every Friday for the previous week’s work.
