Status: Full time, exempt; This position is included in a union-represented collective bargaining unit; specific employment terms and conditions are subject to labor-management negotiations and a potential Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Salary Range: $62,000-$68,000

Position Summary

The Design Manager will conceptualize, design, and deliver fresh and creative visual assets to support The Hub’s campaigns centered around advancing progressive economic and democratic policy. In this role, you will partner with internal and external stakeholders to brainstorm and create original assets for digital, print, offline, and TV, spanning organic and paid materials. Your job is to stay up to date on the latest trends in typography, color, composition, and type to help push our work to explore compelling visual design types, whether that’s a social graphic, GIF, meme, infographic, interactive website, and beyond. The ideal candidate is able to jump right into our fast-moving campaigns, respond quickly to breaking news, and help us develop compelling brands.

As Design Manager, you will:
Collaborate with the digital content team to develop concepts for visual assets across social platforms and bring those concepts to life
Partner with the paid media team to develop visual ad assets for multiple platforms that help meet campaign goals
Create and manage processes for the development and approval of visual ad assets.
Respond quickly to breaking news environment with visually arresting content
Brainstorm new approaches to design products, whether that’s a new style or type of design asset
Help develop the look and feel of the organization’s various campaigns, creating unique campaign brand visuals and design assets for those campaigns
Track and share information about the latest trends and tools in the design world and lead integrating those ideas into our work
Manage vendors, freelancers, and tools integrated into our visual design work for our campaigns and organizational digital infrastructure
Help develop processes that keep our products and team effective and impactful
Perform other duties as assigned

About you:
You have exceptional design skills and a commitment to exploring the latest trends, and love experimenting with style, tone, color, and fonts
You have experience designing print and/or digital content for organizations or brands
You have experience creating effective social-first design content.
You have experience creating effective compelling digital and print ad content for paid distribution.
You have experience creating offline design collateral, including signs, buttons, stickers, palm cards, t-shirts, etc.
You have experience guiding the creative ideation, production, and review processes for products of all shapes and sizes
You have experience clipping and captioning video
You’re organized, detail-oriented, and analytical
You’re an expert in Adobe Creative Cloud programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign, or other graphic design tools
You are proficient in Adobe After Effects or Premiere
You are comfortable taking on evolving responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment
