The Humane League (THL) is a global nonprofit ending the abuse of animals raised for food. THL fosters a high-energy culture of teamwork and mission-driven problem solving, and we have earned recognition as Top Charity from Animal Charity Evaluators for all of their rating periods. As the Senior Events & Engagement Specialist, you will be accountable for managing and executing engagement opportunities including virtual and in-person donor events and other special projects to build community engagement and organization support, with a focus on supporting THL’s Mended Heart Society (mid-level and major gifts). This role is integral to the success of The Humane League’s expanding Development program, and will be critical to helping a high-impact organization achieve sustainable growth. You are a fundraising professional who enjoys creating bespoke experiences that bring donors closer to our mission to end the abuse of animals raised for food. This position reports to the Director of Donor Relations.
This is a full-time, remote position. This position requires occasional domestic travel, equivalent to approximately 4-8 trips per year.
Manage all aspects of planning, producing, and evaluating a variety of cultivation and stewardship events, including happy hours, salons, virtual town halls, and an annual executive meeting & VIP dinner for THL’s top donors
Manage the development and execution of fundraising events including elevated donor-hosted house parties in collaboration with the Donor Relations team
Create and manage timelines, deadlines, and event deliverables both internally and with external partners
Guide efforts to solicit feedback from mid-level donors and make program recommendations via surveys, focus groups, or other methods, in collaboration with the Donor Relations team
Develop and execute special donor engagement opportunities for the Mended Heart Society, including organizing giving circles, workplace engagement, or other donor-led fundraising opportunities, and creating an online community hub
Collaborate with staff across the organization to organize donor visits and speaking engagements
Work to make events accessible and engaging for donors of all experiences and backgrounds in line with THL’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion goals
Solicit, steward, renew and fulfill corporate sponsorships, including identifying engagement opportunities for sponsors at our donor events
Maintain accurate donor information and notes in EveryAction, our relational database
Stay current on The Humane League’s programs and theory of change to effectively articulate our mission and represent our work to supporters

Passion for creating compelling and inspiring experiences that bring donors closer to our mission and deepen their partnership with our organization
3+ years of experience managing intimate fundraising events including visioning, project management, execution, and evaluation
Outstanding organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and deadlines
Ability to leverage relationships and resources to identify creative solutions to overcome obstacles and meet goals
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize activities, and be flexible in adjusting expectations as new developments occur
Ability to identify and implement best practices related to event accessibility and dedication to meeting the needs of THL’s donor community
Solid sense of ownership, capacity to take initiative, work objectively, and follow through to execute on project ideas
Solid ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to learn new technologies and systems
Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work
Willingness to take direction and embrace a collaborative spirit
Availability to work night and weekend hours as needed
Starting salary $52,500 or salary to commensurate with experience.
