Overview

Transform NC (the North Carolina Table of the Green New Deal Network) is looking for a Communications Coordinator to develop and implement a robust communications strategy for our progressive coalition. We seek a self-motivated, experienced professional who will amplify the work that our statewide coalition is doing.  This position will take the lead on shaping a cohesive narrative, completing day to day communications tasks and coordinating with members of the coalition to ensure that the on the ground organizing has the broadest possible impact.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Manage press operations: maintain and develop an up-to-date press list; lead on press outreach and requests for events
Develop and shape messaging: in coordination with the national Green New Deal Network and members of our statewide coalition, help draft press statements, op-eds, LTEs, and maintain updated talking points on key issues
Launch, establish and manage the coalition’s social media accounts including but not limited to Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
Help the Steering Committee stay well-informed about the shifting political landscape in NC with a focus on collaborative narrative work

Requirements:

Able to write and edit material quickly, concisely and persuasively
Able to coordinate multiple projects at once
Able to synthesize information and communicate the main points
Able to craft a compelling political narrative
Basic graphic design skills
Reliable, organized and able to work well independently while taking direction from coalition partners
Grounded in an understanding of the connections between climate, economic, and racial justice and able to consistently apply a race, class and gender lens to the work
Preferred:

Bilingual in Spanish/English; able to translate our media into Spanish

Compensation: $30 per hour. This is a one year contract with potential for renewal.
