Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Staff Accountant II role is a critical member of our accounting department and will have a variety of responsibilities in accounting and payroll. Primary responsibilities encompass Payroll, collections activities related to businesses. Key attributes include: a high level of attention to detail, ability to handle highly confidential/sensitive information, and a demonstrated ability to work well in a team and collaboratively across departments. An important responsibility for this role is to support the Human Resources department.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

Bank reconciliations for all bank accounts for each entity
Financial reports – runs, maintains report designer, issues reports to other member of UTEC
A/R collections – reach out to customers when they reach 60 days on our agingWorking closely with Social Enterprises
Benefits reconciliation with HR – reconcile benefit invoices with HR monthly
Weekly and Bi-Weekly payrollEnsure accurately recorded time for each payroll, including appropriate GL accounts
Work closely with HR to ensure changes to payroll are accurately reflected
Prepare and post all journal entries related to payroll and benefits
Ensure proper charge codes are available by employee and by department
Calculate and record salary and vacation accrual monthly
In the absence of the Assistant Controller, research and resolve employee concerns related to any issues with the payroll system
Management of Advances for staff and young adults
Maintain prevailing wages based on contracts with Cities
Maintain contract allocations for staff and young adults within payroll systemWorking with Staff Account III
Assist with onboarding of new hiresShowing new hires how to enter time and where to access payroll information
Management of City contracts and Private Grants
Admin allocation monthly journal entry
Review credit card transactions and follow up with card holders as neededWorking with Staff Accountant I and Assistant Controller
Responsible for General Ledger maintenance
Create smart list reports
Upload annual budget
Assist with year-end schedules and annual audit
Perform other duties as necessary or assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skill
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
General ledger accounting software experienced highly preferred
Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
Ability to work with a minimal amount of supervision
The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Minimum years’ 2-3 experience in accounting/finance
Payroll experience desired
General ledger and month-end close related accounting experience
Proficient in fundamental accounting rule

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Able to travel as needed

 

Salary range is $55,000- $60,000, commensurate with experience.
