Overview

The Delaware Organizer will help build our grassroots base and organizing operation in Delaware in support of our legislative, policy, and electoral campaigns. The Organizer will help drive a program to recruit, develop, and support members and volunteer leaders to advance the values of the multiracial working class. The Organizer also identifies and builds alliances with other organizations which can influence decision-makers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Build relationships with individual activists, members, and leaders
Assist in organizing opportunities for grassroots engagement on issue campaigns and in movement-building work
Work with other staff and member leaders to identify volunteer team needs and work with them to recruit members and activists to do that work
Design and manage member development and political education opportunities for activists, volunteers, and interns
Build durable relationships with key leaders of allied organizations to ensure alignment around campaign goals and tactics
Experiment with engagement strategies to reach out to potential supporters and current volunteers, move them up the WFP ladder of engagement, and deepen their leadership
Participate in the development of compelling narratives around our campaigns and ensure actions and messaging reinforce our brand and values
Manage contact lists and maintain up to date records in our database
Uses skills to contribute to development of party objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
Generally has authority to plan, prioritize, and handle duties within the assigned area of responsibility
Skills and Qualifications
2 or more years of experience organizing
Ability to train and develop skills of volunteer leaders
Demonstrated ability to cultivate powerful relationships, and build alliances with other organizations which can influence decision-makers
Belief in leadership development and that growth relies on an individual’s ability to own important projects and achieve success for themselves
Excellent communication and listening skills
Ability to work independently
Experience working with a diverse group of volunteers and supporters across all demographics and backgrounds–especially race, gender and class
What Else Should You Know
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $58,000. The final salary will be determined based on an internal equitable scale that takes into consideration years of experience, geographic location, and final job description. Union Affiliation: WFP is a unionized workplace. This is a nonmanagerial role eligible to join WFP’s staff bargaining unit after six months of employment. WFP’s union employees are represented by the New York Metropolitan Area Joint Board, Workers United union.
