Overview
The NY State Director is responsible for leading the flagship chapter of the Working Families Party, a political party of, by and for the multiracial working class. The State Director drives the strategy and vision for the development, growth, stability and power of the Working Families Party and Working Families Organization in New York State. In this role, the State Director recruits and manages a diverse and talented team of staff and consultants, oversees the legal and administrative functions of the Party’s ballot line and infrastructure, drives issue and electoral campaign activities, supports a robust and aggressive communications program, builds WFP as an organizing shop with strong member engagement and grassroots power, and raises funds for the Party’s program. The State Director leads an elected officer body of seven to ten leaders from the State Committee to endorse hundreds of WFP aligned candidates each year and build strong organizational alignment and internal democracy. Serving as the political and legislative strategist for the Working Families Party/Working Families Organization within the state, they work with the National Executive Director and NY senior staff, officers, members and affiliates to develop the state’s political strategy and oversee that strategy’s implementation in a complex, competitive, high-intensity political environment.
